Each recording is available in four versions:

For most people, theora-small should be the right choice. If you have plenty of bandwidth then go for theora-unscaled. If you intend to make your own DVDs that you can play almost anywhere, you need mpeg1-pal or mpeg1-ntsc. The use of "PAL" and "NTSC" is loose here, because digital video doesn't follow either of those standards; only the frame and line rate matter, and you should pick whichever matches the local convention:
