EMWAC Internet Mail Services Control File (IMS.CTL)

A number of features of the IMS are set up on a per-user basis. These features include Automatic Reply and Automatic Forwarding. They are configured using a file named IMS.CTL located in the user's mailbox. You, as administrator, may place the files there, or they may be placed by the user herself.

The IMS.CTL file has a similar format to the WIN.INI file found on Windows 3.1. It consists of a number of [sections], with name=value pairs in each section. The recognised section headings are given below.

[AutoReply]

ReplyFrom
This gives the RFC822 address from which the reply appears to have come. Default: the user's own address.
EchoMessage
If this is set to 1, TRUE or Yes, then an automatic reply will be sent containing a copy of the original message. Default: false.
RecordReplies
If this is set to 1, TRUE or Yes, then each address to which an automatic reply is sent will be recorded. No further automatic replies are sent to that address. Default: false.

[AutoForward]

ForwardTo
This contains the full email address of the person to whom all mail for this user should be forwarded. No default.

[Delivery]

Discard
If this is set to 1, TRUE or Yes, then the message is not actually delivered to the user's mailbox. Default: false.
