If you can't boot directly from the installation CD, you'll need to make a boot diskette. There are several ways this can be done, but you'll need access to a computer running GNU/Linux, DOS or Windows. To create a boot disk you can:
and then type
dd if=/mnt/cdrom/Install/images/boot.img of=/dev/fd0
If you installed SOT Linux using the Windows Migration tool (Section 1.2), you can remove it the same way. From Windows, place the SOT Linux Installation CD in the CD-ROM drive. When the installation screen appears, select the "Remove SOT Linux" button.
Otherwise, you can manually remove SOT Linux by following the steps below:
To remove SOT Linux from your hard drive, you need to delete your Linux
partitions (including your Linux swap partition). This can be done using the
fdisk program. Use your SOT Linux boot diskette (see above) to boot the
computer and enter
fdisk
at the prompt. Entering p will show you
a list of the partitions on your drive. You can then use the d command
to delete the Linux partitions. You can create new, blank partitions in their
place with the n command, if you need to. If you get lost, m
brings up a help screen.
To remove the GRUB boot loader from the master boot
record, boot your machine from a DOS or Windows start-up disk and enter the
command:
fdisk /MBR
